Sarah Matthews serves as senior counsel of Klavens Law Group, P.C. She brings an insider’s understanding of the business needs and legal challenges of cleantech companies and a diverse legal background to her work with renewable energy ventures.
Sarah has over 20 years of experience practicing with corporate legal departments and law firms in a broad range of practice areas including corporate formation and governance, debt and equity financing, commercial contracts, intellectual property licensing and protection, employment law, commercial real estate and municipal law.
Prior to joining Klavens Law Group, Sarah served from 2007 to 2010 as in-house general counsel of Qteros, Inc., a venture-backed, biofuels company headquartered in Marlborough, MA. She also served as general counsel of Gravity Graphics, Inc., a wholesale apparel company located in Brooklyn, New York, from its formation in 1986 through its profitable divestiture in 1998. Sarah also practiced at the Martha’s Vineyard law firm Reynolds, Rappaport & Kaplan (1991-1999), and with several Washington, DC law firms.
Sarah is a graduate of the University of Michigan (BA 1981) and Georgetown University Law Center (JD 1986), and is admitted to practice in Massachusetts and Washington, DC.
