Samantha Rothberg

Samantha Rothberg serves as senior corporate counsel of Klavens Law Group, P.C. Sam’s practice focuses on companies and investors in the cleantech, climate tech and social enterprise sectors. She assists companies at each phase of their life cycle – from early-stage startups to established private companies – in a diverse array of areas, including startup formation, outside general counsel advising, corporate governance, equity compensation, venture financings, debt transactions, joint ventures, and mergers and acquisitions. Sam also supports the purchase and sale and financing of clean energy projects. In addition, she advises nonprofit organizations on formation, corporate governance and transactional issues.

Prior to joining Klavens Law Group, Sam worked at Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr LLP from 2015 through 2023 in positions of increasing seniority, culminating in the role of Counsel. Sam's practice focused on all aspects of corporate law, and she represented private and public companies and venture capital investors in a variety of industries, including technology, clean energy, life sciences and financial services.

Prior to law school, Sam worked for Public Interest GRFX, the in-house communications team of the Public Interest Network, where she advised the nonprofit Environment America national federation and seven state groups in the Northeast region, including Environment Massachusetts. She counseled each of her clients in the development of a comprehensive communications strategy and supported their advocacy of policies promoting the adoption of wind and solar power, solutions to the climate crisis, defense of clean air and water, and more, serving as content writer, editor and chief project manager for their political campaign, fundraising and donor development content. She also managed the Public Interest Network’s direct mail operation.

Sam is a graduate of Columbia University (BA 2009) and Harvard Law School (JD 2015, cum laude; articles editor, Journal of Law and Technology), and is admitted to practice in Massachusetts. She was named to Boston Magazine's Top Lawyers list in 2021 and 2022 in the area of corporate law.
